About me

I'm a freelance trainer, coach and facilitator, dedicated to helping people flourish at work.

I advise, coach and train people in all walks of business life, from the boardroom to the front line, in multi-national corporations, non-profits, and start-ups.

Much of my work focuses on building the communication skills that leaders and managers need to be effective. For example, the ability to inspire and persuade others, build relationships, handle challenging conversations with integrity, and lead effective, productive, and engaging meetings.

In addition to my independent professional practice, I'm privileged to be a Senior Associate Tutor at Oxford University's Department of Continuing Education.

A former Senior Expert at McKinsey & Company, I draw on over 15 years’ experience working with leaders of global transformation programmes, turnarounds, and multi-billion-dollar mergers. I’ve worked in a wide range of industries including financial services, healthcare, aerospace, heavy industry, consumer goods and luxury fashion. I've helped FTSE-100 executives, start-up founders, submarine commanders, and community nurses.

I've been a brand manager, a strategy consultant, and a people manager. For a decade I led McKinsey’s client communications group in the UK and then across Europe, responsible for the function’s development and strategy. I was twice named one of McKinsey’s most inspirational UK leaders.

I hold a First Class Honours degree from Oxford University in English Language and Literature. I'm a qualified practitioner in MBTI Step I and Step II, FIRO-B, and the TKI Conflict Modes tool, an accredited practitioner of CAPP Strengths Survey and also a certified Laughter Yoga Leader.

I'm a member of the International Association of Business Communicators, the International Coaching Federation, and the International Association of Facilitators. â€‹

Outside of work, in case you hadn't guessed from the images on this site, I love nature. I'm married to a gardener, and I love growing things. When I'm not working, I can usually be found pottering in my garden in Somerset. I also enjoy travelling and cycling, and I'm an avid fan of sumo wrestling.

I try to ensure my business makes a positive impact on the world, beyond helping my clients. I take public transport whenever I can, and drive electric when I can't. If I have to fly, I offset my carbon emissions. I donate 10% of my annual profits to charity.
